Hello! I should start by saying that the moderately rainy weather in May allowed us to harvest a good crop. I think it drizzled once or twice in May, but it was not enough. There were no good rains in June either, and the July showers did not save anything. And it's strange that in one village, very close to my summer cottage, it rained and the harvest was quite good.

I would like to post photos of a good harvest, huge green plants, but, as a famous uncle used to say, "we have what we have."

Although I spent a lot of time even watering the cucumbers, they wilted quite quickly. In general, the cucumber harvest was good, enough for preservation. But the fruiting period itself is short. I want to pick at least a few cucumbers and make a delicious salad.

My tomatoes have just begun to bear fruit, but the lack of moisture will probably do the same to them as to the cucumbers. And watering vegetables that are already bearing fruit, as practice shows, no longer gives a tangible result.

There are very few potatoes in the bush. I don't know, maybe something will grow in the next month, but there are few chances. I am glad that this year there was no Colorado potato beetle at all. I bought a poison for the beetle from a seller, and I wasn't lying, it was effective. One spraying was enough. The poison was not labeled at all: it was unknown what he sprayed. This poison is sold in syringes, it is white in color. At the same time, I treated a row of eggplants with the same poison. The latter grew well: two or three fruits on each bush.

The zucchini look miserable. I pick one fruit from a dozen plants every three days. The corn also looks miserable. Many plants, which are about one meter high, have no cobs at all. I don't remember such a poor harvest in recent years of farming. But there will be something, at least a small harvest. There's an apple, currants, some potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, nuts, grapes, and they won't let us starve to death. So it's not so bad. The main thing is that the war ends as soon as possible.

PS I wrote this post a little earlier, and then it started to rain, a long, heavy rain. It fell for about 6 hours and watered the hill quite a bit.

Жалюгідна городина, спекотне літо 2023

Привіт! Потрібно почати з того, що в міру дощова погода в травні дозволяє зібрати непоганий врожай. Здається в травні щось накрапало раз чи два, та цього замало. Не було добрих дощів і в червні, а липневі зливи вже нічого не врятували. І дивно якось те, що в одному населеному пункті, зовсім поруч від моєї дачної ділянки, дощі йшли й врожай зовсім непоганий.

Хотілось би викласти світлини гарного врожаю, величезних зелених рослин, але, як говорив один відомий дядько, “маємо те, що маємо”.

Хоча я витратив багато часу навіть на полив огірків, зів'яли вони досить швидко. Взагалі, врожай огірків добрий, на консервацію вистачило. Але сам період плодоношення короткий. Хочеться ж зібрати хоч кілька огірків та зробити смачний салат.

Помідори в мене тільки почали плодоносити, але відсутність вологи, ймовірно, зробить з ними теж саме, що й з огірками. А поливати овочі, що вже плодоносять, як показує практика, вже не дає відчутного результату.

Картоплі в кущі зовсім мало. Не знаю, може ще за останній місяць щось доросте, але шансів мало. Радує те, що в цьому році взагалі не було колорадського жука. Купив у одного продавця отруту для жука, не збрехав, дієва. Одного оприскування вистачило. Отрута взагалі без маркування: чим обприскував, невідомо. Продається така отрута в шприцах, має білий колір. Заодно обробив цією ж отрутою й рядок баклажанів. Останні вродили непогано: на кожному кущі по два-три плоди.

Кабачки виглядають жалюгідно. З десятка рослин збираю по одному плоду з інтервалом раз на три дні. Кукурудза теж має нещасний вигляд. На багатьох рослинах, висота яких сягає близько одного метра, взагалі відсутні качани. За останні роки своє сільськогосподарської діяльності я не пам'ятаю такого кепського врожаю. Але щось-таки буде, хоч невеличкий врожай. Там яблуко, там смородина, трохи картоплі, огірки, помідори, горіхи, виноград не дадуть померти з голоду. Так що не все так і страшно. Головне, щоб війна закінчилася в найкоротший термін.

PS Допис написав трішки раніше, а потім почався дощ, тривалий сильний дощ. Він падав близько 6 годин й добряче полив гродину.
